This commit in fact changes two very related places:
- first, it implements forgotten 'enhancedForWarnings' in K2 enhancement
- second, it repeats KT-48515 fix for K2 while enhancing wildcards
#KT-65594 Fixed
Related to KT-48515, KT-63746
They are mostly necessary for argument mapping during resolution.
To support a couple checkers, we transform named args for varargs
into "fake" spread expressions.
Other than that, named arguments aren't needed for anything and often
lead to bugs where we forget to unwrap them for something, so it's
better to get rid of them.
#KT-66124
It's not really necessary if the information about if the lambda was a
trailing lambda can be directly saved in FirAnonymousFunctionExpression.
Removing the FIR node uncovered a couple of bugs
(UNINITIALIZED_ENUM_ENTRY, ERROR_IN_CONTRACT_DESCRIPTION) that were
caused by assuming that a lambda is always a trailing lambda.
#KT-66124
To be more precises, ResultTypeResolver for K2 now searches for
similar LOWER/UPPER constraints pair based on the same flexible type,
like LOWER(CapturedType&Any..CapturedType?) and UPPER(CapturedType!).
If such a pair is found, the CapturedType is not approximated.
This is done to avoid a big difference between this case and
completely same constraints, like LOWER(CapturedType!) and
UPPER(CapturedType!). In this case we squash them to EQUAL(CapturedType!)
even before ResultTypeResolver, and captured types which is got from
an EQUAL constraint are not approximated even before this commit.
This commit fixes back a case from KT-50134 and a problem with intellij.vcs.git
#KT-65596 Fixed
This commit changes the behavior of KT-59138 effectively declining it in 2.0.
However, we plan to implement KT-59138 behavior under a feature
flag in 2.0 (see KT-66447), and switch this feature on version 2.x.
Also, this commit implements the LC resolution about postponing
KT-57014 change. We don't have KT-57014 described behavior in 2.0 anymore.
However, we plan to implement a deprecation warning here, see KT-65578.
After this commit, 6 diagnostic tests become incorrectly broken:
- 5 tests from PurelyImplementedCollection group
- a test platformTypes/nullableTypeArgument.kt
This commit also breaks currently fixed-in-k2 KT-50134
(it is fixed again in the following commits),
as well as KT-58933 (it will remain not fixed till we enable KT-59138
behavior again).

This makes it more consistent and fixes some
overlooked corner cases. Also it was decided
on the last equality applicability DM
(KT-62646) that we'd like
`is`/`!is`/`as`/`as?` to work similarly
to `===`/`!==`.
Also note that it now gives a clearer
explaination of why some corner cases work
the way they do. For example,
`FirPsiDiagnosticTestGenerated.testLambdaInLhsOfTypeOperatorCall`
yields `UNCHECKED_CAST` instead of
`CAST_NEVER_SUCCEEDS`, because
`toTypeInfo()` replaces all type arguments
with star projections, even when the argument
is not a type parameter. This is because
it has been desided to work this way in
KT-57779.
In
`FirPsiOldFrontendDiagnosticsTestGenerated..NeverSucceeds#testNoGenericsRelated`
the diagnostic is introduced, because
`t2 as FC1` and `FC1` is a final class with
no `T5` supertype.
`UNCHECKED_CAST` in
`FirPsiOldFrontendDiagnosticsTestGenerated.testSmartCast`
disappeared, because previously we didn't
take smartcasts into account.
Note that
`FirPsiOldFrontendDiagnosticsTestGenerated.testMappedSubtypes`
is a false positive. It appears because `isSubtypeOf()` doesn't
take into account platform types in supertypes of the given types
(doesn't map them).
FirCallResolver tries to find a
candidate for the delegate's getValue and cannot parse an arrayLiteral
with a nullable coneType.Running
FirCallCompletionResultsWriterTransformer.transformArrayLiteral is
required to find the result type. Therefore, completeCall should not be
invoked with the ResolutionMode from the 'data' param, but rather in
ResolutionMode.ContextIndependent.
#KT-65022 Fixed
This is necessary for inference to work like in K1 because we only
add equality constraints from expected types on top-level `when`, not
on nested ones.
#KT-65882
This fixes some cases where we infer some type variable inside one
of the branches to Nothing instead of the expected type because Nothing
appeared in some other branch.
Specifically, we add an equality instead of a subtype constraint during
completion of calls to synthetic functions for if/when, try and !!.
We don't do it when the call contains a (possibly nested) elvis or is
inside the RHS of an assignment.
Otherwise, we would prevent some smart-casts.
#KT-65882 Fixed
... when the expected type is not a function type.
Instead set it to a new type variable.
This fixes a bunch of false negative CANNOT_INFER_PARAMETER_TYPE.
#KT-59882 Fixed
Before this commit, the expect-actual resolver could find expects in
regular dependencies
Note: The appeared `VIRTUAL_MEMBER_HIDDEN` in
compiler/fir/analysis-tests/testData/resolveWithStdlib/multiModule/FakeOverrides.kt
isn't caused by my change. It's caused by fixing the testData dependency
syntax notation.
The testData improperly used regular dependency syntax notation, while
it should have been using dependsOn
Before:
Regular dependency syntax notation
// MODULE: androidMain(commonMain)
After:
dependsOn dependency syntax notation
// MODULE: androidMain()()(commonMain)
Check all members for `Visibility.Unknown`,
otherwise we miss them when they come
from supertypes. This is the reason why
the FP intellij build failed with a
cryptic stacktrace instead of a
human-readable diagnostic.
Also, do report the diagnostic at all
cases of `Visibilities.Unknown`. Turns
out, there are no "simple to reason
about" situations here :(
Also, an interesting detail:
`retrieveDirectOverriddenOf` returns an
empty list for intersection overrides.
But this doesn't seem to break anything...
Replacing `CANNOT_INFER_VISIBILITY`'s
type `KtDeclaration` with
`PsiNameIdentifierOwner` and the related
changes in `PositioningStrategies`
were needed to prevent an exception saying that
`PsiClassImpl` is not a subtype of
`KtDeclaration`.
In some cases we transform flexible type into non-flexible during
enhancement, but don't add `@EnhancedNullability` attribute to them,
which breaks consistency with K1 on IR level
This commit fixes it
^KT-65302
A class can inherit two declarations that are compatible from the
overridability standpoint and are therefore combined to a non-trivial
intersection.
At the same time, the class can declare a member declaration that
only overrides one of the intersection's members.
In this case, we break up the intersection and only add the overridden
parts to the declared member's direct overridden list.
If the class doesn't override the intersection, it exists as
intersection override, like before.
#KT-65487 Fixed
Even though SO may not be correct
overrides sometimes, it feels more
natural to treat fake overrides as...
well, "overrides". And without it
we'd need to make the code in
`FirOverrideChecker` less intuitive.
- Handle flexible types in recursion check
- Handle intersected supertypes separately
- Make check when not to approximate captured types in type argument
position more fine-grained.
Only apply it to case when the captured type is replaced by a star
projection.
All other cases are handled by recursive calls to
approximateCapturedType
#KT-65377 Fixed
This fixes a bunch of missing overridden symbols in IR.
This is also required for fixing KT-59921 in the following commit
where we need to keep all overridden symbols of intersection overrides
so that we can enhance them properly.

We drop Kotlin function 'remove' or 'getOrDefault' from JvmMappedScope,
if it has platform-dependent annotation, and the bound Java class scope
does not contain a function with the same signature.

A report of UNRESOLVED_REFERENCE should not be made for elements like
FirImplicitThisReference that don't have a source, as they are implicit.
#KT-65044 Fixed
When there is a return statement within a lambda, and the return
statement contains a lambda, data-flow information from the inner lambda
is not being passed correctly to the surrounding lambda. This is because
return statements which had a lambda target would drop all postponed
lambda exits, but should instead forward those exits to the surrounding
lambda exit.

^KT-64268 Fixed
The primary constructor of a class needs to be the first subgraph of the
class control-flow graph. Based on the Kotlin specification, class
initialization order goes first primary constructor, in-place
declarations (properties and init blocks), and then secondary
constructors. If the class doesn't have a primary constructor, then it
is just skipped in the order.
Unfortunately, the class control-flow graph had in-place declarations
first and then all constructors. Instead, we should treat the primary
constructor as the first in-place declaration, and then continue with
the existing processing as secondary constructors. This will guarantee
that super constructor calls have the correct property initialization
information.
^KT-65093 Fixed
This fixes some type argument mismatch errors caused by a captured type
being approximated and then captured again.
Some places need to be adapted to work with captured types that
previously only worked with approximated types.
#KT-62959 Fixed
At the moment, SubclassOptInRequired is marked with the
ExperimentalSubclassOptIn annotation. However, it does not work
as expected due to a missing opt-in error. To use SubclassOptInRequired,
an explicit opt-in is necessary because SubclassOptInRequired is an
unstable feature now.
^KT-64739
- use `FirImplicitInvokeCall` instance check to detect implicit calls,
it is cleaner than checking particular resolve type and "invoke" name
- reuse `visitQualifiedAccesses` to update the CFG instead of manually
searching through the `localProperties` (because it didn't work in the
case of overloads)

There might be several pathes out from the function from CFG point of view:
- normal execution path
- exceptional execution path
For verification of callsInPlace contract it's needed to check only
the normal path
^KT-63414 Fixed
This is required for the following commit where candidates from the
original scope in presence of smart cast will not be ignored if they're
the same symbol.
